Sorry we haven’t been active for quite a while now. We’ve been busy. At some point we will revive this site, just don’t know when.
Not to worry though. We have this new project up to provide you with your daily dose of downloads: Checkd.at/track
You can login to the site using Facebook. Once you’re in, you can use these Super Mario mushrooms to give an upvote to the tracks you like. It’s a bit like Jackplug, but much more about the music itself. These are our faves at the moment:
We hope you enjoy :) – Checkd.at/track
In The Spot
Better be quick about downloading this one. It will max out at a hundred downloads, and it’s already past fifty. Totte, a Swedish Malmö based produced this little bassy beauty. He calls it Future Fidget, a combination of that future Garage/Bass sound and Hip-Hop-ish Fidget House. Call it what you want, great track anyway. Sounds like Totte’s been screwing around with the Kanye’s ‘Touch The Sky’ acapella.
Drive Hard
This track just recently got a lot of traction in the land of blogs, thanks to Et Musique Pour Tous blog. PrototypeRaptor‘s might-be-a-Mord-Fustang-reference ‘Drive Hard’. After checking it out, we established two things. 1. This is a free track. 2. This track is already over seven months old. Still reason enough to also post this track, for the ones who missed out.
Sense & Doubt
This 17-years-old Swedish petite called Amanda Mair is giving away a few tracks through her label Labrador. These tracks are titled ‘Sense’ and ‘Doubt’, both are taken from Mair’s self-titled debut album. This (together with names such as Madeon and Sky Ferreira) is definitely a name to restore your confidence in today’s youth. Oh crap, we just got old while writing that.
Watch Out Roxanne
Loo and Placido are two guys, Jeremy Johnson and Laurent Lupidi, from France. They mashed up Sting’s vocals of ‘Roxanne’ by The Police with several dubstep tracks. One we know is ‘Watch Out’ by Doctor P. We’re still trying to figure out the other ones they used (Help!) but we’ll edit this post once we know. All we know: this is a pretty damn brilliant mixdown.
Work
The 2 Bears are a London-based duo: Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) and Raf Rundell. But after already releasing an album, three EPs and a fantastic BBC Essential Mix (amongst others), you probably know of them. We’ve been loving the hell out of this track ‘Work’, which we figured wasn’t a free download. So we didn’t post it. But after stumbling across DFA Records’ Soundcloud page, we have to retract that statement. DFA is handing it out as a free bonus. Enjoy!
Monsterparty
Cool new track out for free on Compost Records. ‘Monsterparty’ by Marbert Rocel is out to announce their new album ‘Small Hours’, which will be released on the 20th of April. Marbert Rocel is a four headed band from Leipzig, Germany. They have been releasing music since 2007 and ‘Small Hours’ will be their third album.
I Will Change (Le Crayon Remix)
We’re a bit puzzled why this track is tagged ‘Aussistuff’. Le Crayon is a French producer who remixed ‘I Will Change’ by Parisian prodigy Allure and Jordan Lee on Vocals. Nice remix on a track we already loved. Pretty interesting detail for all producers: Allure is handing out the acapella for free.
Run It Back (Instrumental)
Xaphoon Jones is sharing the instrumental mixdown of a track he did together with Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege (They are Chiddy Bang). The track is titled ‘Run It Back’ and the original comes from their ‘Breakfast‘ album which was released a few days ago.
Total Recall EP
And then there’s this weird recent Flosstradamus concept where the Chicago/Brooklyn based duo finds new combinations between cheesy hardhouse and hip hop/dubstep/crunk/etc. It all started with their free release ‘Total Recall’ which was released in early January. That track, plus two others, are being given away through Diplo’s Mad Decent label. It’s too bad, but Total Recall is still the only track in the EP that’s worth the replays. The other two are not that balanced, just plump. So instead of posting one of the new tracks, here’s ‘Total Recall’ once again.
